YOGA & WELLNESS PRACTITIONERS
Yoga Manager & Instructor: Richard Dunne
Richard took his first yoga class in India back in 2005 and was immediately amazed by the mental clarity, body-awareness and increase in flexibility that he felt after only a few days of practice. He found that any day that started with yoga was infinitely more productive and rewarding than a day without, and that has been the case ever since.
He kept up his practice when he returned to Ireland and was fortunate enough to return to India to complete his first 200hrs of teacher training in 2015, after which Richard began to teach sporadically.
He decided to commit to yoga full-time and two years later he returned to Asia where I have been ever since, volunteering in ashrams, taking his next 300hrs of teacher training and working at various studios, resorts and retreats in SE Asia. The more he learns about yoga the more he realises there is to know. Richard looks forward to continuing his journey as a student and sharing his knowledge and experience with others.
Yoga Instructor: Rebeccah Bartlett
Rebeccah discovered yoga at a young age from her aunt who was a yoga teacher. She didn’t embrace yoga until she was 22 however, when she began to take classes at a local studio. The gates opened and yoga became a complete healing process, both physically and mentally. Deciding to explore the world and her love for yoga, she ended up volunteering at a school in a “slum” of India. The children were restless so she involved the entire school in a morning practice of yoga before each day began, which did wonders for the kids’ attention spans. It seemed to Rebeccah that she had found her place. In 2007 Upon returning to the U.S., she decided the next chapter of her life would be yoga teacher training. The training (RYT 200-hour) only confirmed that she made the right choice.
Since then she has studied many different avenues and styles of yoga as well as deepening her study of Aryuveda and anatomy. Her study of yoga has been influenced by teachers such as Seane Corn, Shiva Rae, Sarah Ivanhoe, Faith Hunter, Kathryn Budig, Coby Kozlowski and Rosey Mann.
Rebeccah continues to deepen her practice and has been amazed by the doors it has opened. Her ultimate passion is to intertwine her yoga community with volunteerism.
Yoga Instructor: Manuela Kind
When Yoga found Manuela 8+ years ago, she was hooked immediately. Being a dancer since the age of 13, her body enjoyed the movements a lot. Later on, when Manuela was living a high-paced lifestyle working full-time in a design agency, she needed the stillness that Yoga and Meditation gave her. The philosophy behind it was something that fascinated her since she was a teenager: When she became ill, it helped Manuela in answering her question. After practicing Yoga for years, she realized that this practice gave her much more than she ever imagined. It gave her inner balance. It was Yoga that made Manuela pick herself back up when she was ill. And it was Yoga that helped her grow, thrive and live her life today in a way that makes her happy.
Yoga for Manuela is very much about connecting body and mind, and living a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Her approach in teaching reflects that – She invites and encourages her students to reconnect with their true self, developing self-awareness, letting go of distractions and drama, by simply being present in the moment. Manuela strongly believes that Yoga not only happens on the mat – it happens in our everyday life, in the choices we make, in how we express ourselves and interact in this world, in the way we treat others and ourselves.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner: Julien Adam
Julien Adam is a French Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner whose humble beginnings started as a physiotherapist looking for ways to help people around him. He then realized the limitations of what he can do so he devoted his time in studying more. Julien’s interest in health brought him close to Chinese medicine and reluctantly found himself lost in the healing power of the art. He then continued his pursuit of expanding his knowledge of modern techniques and classical teachings by receiving training in osteopathy.
After working for 16 long years in France, he wanted to travel around and see how he can be of more impact. Now being a resident in Asia, Julien fell in love with Siem Reap. He has lived in Cambodia for the past six months and has been actively doing treatments from acupuncture, acupressure, osteopathy, TCM and many more.
Moving to Siem Reap has opened new doors for discovering different techniques with his treatments, being a medical specialist he incorporates all of these elements to his therapies to make it more effective. He’s also a long time practitioner of Qi Gong, Tai Chi and for him, maintaining harmony with your whole-being is one of the best thing you could achieve in your lifetime.
Shiatsu Therapist: Pascal Wagenvoort
Pascal Wagenvoort our Medical Therapist was born in Utrecht, Netherlands. With a love of giving therapies, he followed his passion to complete a course in sports theraphy. Expanding his repertoire, he studied various forms of Shiatsu massage, including the Namikoshi, at the European Shiatsu Academy, of which he is still a member.
Originally Shiatsu was used to keep the body healthy but later proved that it’s a powerful tool in aiding bodily sickness, injury and recovery with the usage of fingers and hands. With many types of Shiatsu, Pascal favors the Namikoshi approach, as it uses direct finger pressure to the meridian points, thus allowing the body to react directly through reflexes and eliminate, through the bladder, the toxins that the body accumulates.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM)
Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of applying pressure by creating a vacuum on the skin to dispel stagnant blood and lymph nodes, thereby improving Qi flow. Cupping is commonly used to treat respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia and bronchitis. Cupping also is used on the back, neck, shoulder and for other musculoskeletal conditions. Cupping therapy is also used to open the conduits in the body through which energy flows, called meridians. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians. Cupping aids tissues to release toxins, activates the skin and lymphatic system, clears stretch marks, and activates and clears veins, arteries and capillaries. Navutu’s T.C.M. specialist administers all procedures after a thorough evaluation/consultation.
Acupuncture | Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture is an alternative medicine that treats patients with the insertion and manipulation of thin, solid needles in the body. Since its origins in Ancient China, acupuncture has been embedded in the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine, TCM. Its general theory is based on the premise that bodily functions are regulated by the flow of an energy-like entity called Qi (chi). Illness is caused by obstructed energy flow at certain points along the body’s meridians, or energy channels. Acupuncture therapy stimulates meridian flow and harmonizes the body’s energy to influence the health of both body and mind. It is very successful in treating neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, sciatica, hip pain, arthritis, sports injuries, anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraine headaches, sinus problems, vertigo, asthma, acne, eczema, allergy, constipation, hypertension, menstrual and PMS problems, infertility, smoking addiction, alcohol dependence, detoxification, obesity and weight control…. to name a few. Francois, our resident acupuncture specialist, is always on hand to conduct individual health analyses and provide subsequent acupuncture treatments.
Or finger pressure therapy is a Japanese form of physiotherapy. The technique looks beyond specific pressure points, incorporating other methods such as stretching, breathing and rotating for a more whole-body approach to restoring energy balance, its roots are thousands of years old. The main concept behind shiatsu massage is that energy, Qu or Chi, circulates along channels or meridians in the body. When it flows freely, Chi brings fresh, positive yang energy while carrying away negative yin energy, keeping an individual physically, emotionally and spiritually well. It is believed that by manipulating pressure points along specific meridians and relaxing the body, practitioners of shiatsu can get energy back in balance and, therefore, treat numerous ailments.

Deep Tissue Treatment
Deep tissue treatment works by breaking down the adhesions of muscle, ligaments and tissue, so there is a better flow of blood and thus can alleviate the pain and restore normal movement. Deep Tissue massage is able to break up tissue from previous injuries, improve the blood flow so that nutrients and oxygen can nourish the tissue. Inflammation is caused by build up of toxins which block the blood flow. Being properly hydrated before your massage and drinking plenty of fluids after, is essential to a good treatment.Your muscles will feel sore immediately after the treatment which then goes away after a day. It is important to breathe deeply during the massage, to oxygenate the muscles. Do not plan any heavy activities after a treatment.

It is a form of energy work using pranic healing that helps to increase, control and direct the universal life force or prana to give the client a more balanced and overall sense of well-being. You will also experience a beautiful sound bath using crystal and tibetan bowls – a beautiful way to bring you back into your body completing the healing session.

Testimonials for Yoga, Detox & Wellness Retreats
Tessa O., the United Kingdom
If you’re looking for a complete break in beautiful surroundings, accompanied by very warm-hearted people, Navutu Dreams is the place for you. I spent a total of 7 days there and took part in the ‘Detox of the Mind’ programme, and Navutu Dreams became my refuge and my home for the entirety of my stay. From the first moment when my husband and I were greeted personally by Sarah, to the last when we said goodbye to the tuk-tuk driver who became my husband’s friend for the week, I felt cared for with genuine interest and attention. Many of the staff knew me by name and were always ready to help. The Wellness Programme itself was just what I had hoped it would be – a real tonic after busy times that helped me to explore and reconnect with what’s really important both to me and for me – guided and supported every step of the way by the lovely Louise, who I feel has now become a friend. Louise has a genuine gift for healing and is extremely knowledgeable in many areas of eastern philosophy, which apply to us all, and her approach is uniquely personal to her, which makes time spent with her all the more inviting to share. The 5-day programme consisted of group and personal yoga sessions, Pranayama meditation and energy healing, sound healing and a daily massage, not to mention the opportunity to talk and discuss whatever was pertinent to me at the time (without it turning into counselling). In summary, I can not express how grateful I feel to have been able to enjoy and learn from the time I spent at Navutu; if you feel able to arrive with your heart and mind open to all possibilities, I would highly recommend.
Angela G., The United KingdomI normally visit a yoga retreat in Thailand but I wanted to try something different this year so found Navutu online. When I arrived, I thought it would be ten days of yoga and spa treatments and some time to visit the temples nearby. What I got was something much deeper than that. Louise tailored my stay to suit me – we met on the first evening to discuss my wellness programme and it involved so much more than physical treatments and yoga. I have never done any holistic healing before but I opened my mind to the possibilities and what I got was incredible. Through breathing, meditation and yoga practice, as well as spiritual healing and using Louise’s expertise, I gained so much more than physical relaxation, I felt mentally relaxed too. Louise taught me some excellent practices that I have brought home to the UK to practice daily which is already helping me cope with the demands of everyday modern life. I would thoroughly recommend Navutu and particularly Louise’s wellness programmes.
Assia T., SingaporeI chose Navutu Dreams in Siem Reap for a yoga and wellness retreat. My expectations were fully met: from the friendly staff and beautiful grounds, to the clean room and delicious traditional food. I was most impressed with the yoga/ meditation teachers and spiritual advisors who led the yoga and wellness program. They were knowledgeable, personable and very helpful. Everything was well thought of and well organized. The resort’s traditional massage offerings are also exceptional. I would happily return for another visit to Navutu Dreams and architecturally breathtaking Siem Reap.
